AN Open CalL JURIED Group Exhibition
PRESENTED BY LAUNCH La and the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles

june 25 - july 17, 2026

The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA, Director Haedon Lee), in partnership with LAUNCH LA (Director, James Panozzo), proudly presents P.O.V. (Point of View), an exhibition featuring selected works from a statewide California artist open call, from June 25 through July 16, 2026, in the Center’s second-floor gallery.

The open call was designed to discover and support artists from diverse cultural backgrounds throughout California, while fostering artistic exchange and dialogue within local communities. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States, this year’s call was expanded from Southern California to artists across the entire state. The competition attracted significant interest, receiving 851 submissions from more than 215 artists.

The jury panel included TeaYoun Kim-Kassor, Chair of the Foundation Program at Otis College of Art and Design, and Paul Loya, Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Following a rigorous review process, the jurors selected 37 works by 29 artists for inclusion in the exhibition.

The exhibition’s theme, P.O.V. (Point of View), examines how diverse perspectives and diasporic experiences shaped by America’s history of immigration continue to influence contemporary visual art and artistic identity. Through a variety of media—including painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media—the participating artists explore expanded notions of perspective, ranging from physical and emotional viewpoints to conceptual approaches informed by memory, cultural heritage, and personal experience.

At its core, the exhibition considers how individuals from different cultural and historical backgrounds establish their own perspectives within the shared space of the United States and translate those experiences into visual expression. By bringing together a wide range of artistic voices, P.O.V. invites viewers to reflect on identity, belonging, and the value of multiple perspectives within a diverse society.

KCCLA Director Haedon Lee stated, “KCCLA is honored to present the thoughtful and compelling works of these 29 selected artists.” He added, “We hope this exhibition serves as a meaningful platform for sharing diverse cultural experiences and perspectives, while encouraging dialogue, empathy, and mutual respect in our multicultural communities.”

Lee also noted that awards will be presented during the opening reception, including an $800 First Prize and two $300 Excellence Awards recognizing outstanding artistic achievement.

James Panozzo, President of LAUNCH LA, stated, “Expanding this year’s open call to artists across California in commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary has enabled us to showcase an even broader range of artistic voices and exceptional work. We look forward to continuing our partnership with KCCLA to create opportunities for artists and foster inspiration through the arts.”

The opening reception will take place on Thursday, June 25, at 6:00 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles. The exhibition will remain on view through July 16, 2026.
