A reflection may be an image mirrored back to the observer or serious thought and consideration. In the case of this exhibition, it’s both.
Launch LA, in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center presents “Reflection”, an open call exhibition. The show opens Friday August 6 at the Korean Cultural Center, 5505 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles with an opening reception from 6-8:30 PM. Covid protocols will be observed: masks are required and social distancing encouraged. The show is open for viewing Monday through Friday from 10:00AM - 5:00PM, through Friday, August 27. Parking is available in the rear of the building.
Jurors Sunook Park and Terrell Tilford viewed over 400 images from over 100 artists in a blind jurying process. They chose 46 pieces by 39 artists for an interconnected, authentic, and compelling echo of contemporary life. “Reflection” brings together artists from across Southern California whose practices contemplate and mirror these unprecedented times. Two participating artists (to be announced) will be awarded exhibitions at Launch LA’s gallery at 170 S La Brea Avenue in 2021/22.
Sunook Park is a professor in the CSULB School of Art and Brand Coach at SUNOOKPARK Branding. He is an independent curator and founder of ANDLAB: a motivational retreat center, alternative exhibition space, and education lab of art and design thinking. Actor, collector and curator Terrell Tilford founded Band of Vices in Los Angeles in 2015; the gallery serves as a platform for emerging, mid-career & established Contemporary artists.
